
Demian Spindler is a classical trumpeter, photographer, and filmmaker. A six-time alumnus of the Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar, Demian is especially interested in performing solo repertoire and chamber music, and performed his solo debut with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at age 17. Recently, he has appeared as principal trumpet with the St Andrews Chamber Orchestra and principal cornet with the Tullis Russell Mills band (Scotland, UK). Demian has also performed with the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra (Los Angeles, CA). His primary teachers include Marco Blaauw, James Thompson, Edward Carroll, David Hickman, and Wesley Nance.
In 2023, Demian and two colleagues, Dovas Lietuvninkas and Bailey Paugh, formed "something something trumpet", a trumpet performance collective. For more information, visit somethingsomethingtrumpet.com.
Demian began shooting black and white film and working in the darkroom when he was in elementary school, and has developed his skills over the past 20+ years. Focusing primarily on the performing arts, he has worked with New York State Ballet, Eastman School of Music, 1816 Farmington Quaker Meetinghouse, Opera Guild of Rochester, and many more.
In 2016, Demian and his friend Mikey Jarrell traveled to Cuba and filmed "The Cuban Method," a documentary about ballet in Cuba. The film is available for public viewing on YouTube (click here), and was aired on live television, Rochester WXXI, on September 26th, 2021.
